Ever since 2020 is the year that everyone wants to forget, I wanted to share the most important thing that I learned in 2020.
Family is the most important thing.
Now, I’m the type of person that my family and my friends mean a lot to me. I never want to take for granted the ability to see those that I love. To be able to see my grandparents, my parents, my sisters, my aunts and uncles and cousins.
I realize that this is a no brainer for a lot of people. But with the pandemic and the added stresses of everything going on this year – I feel like that this needs to be emphasized. You are born into a family – whether it is your choice or not. Your relationships with your parents and siblings can be either good or bad. Life is too short and not worthwhile without family.
As a person that thrives around their family, whether its a small impromptu group of people, or a huge family blowout – this year has been extremely isolating in a lot of ways. It’s prompted conversations between me and my husband of unknown future situations.
The thing that is most important is that my family knows that I love them all deeply. Whether that be a cousin, an aunt or uncle, my parents, siblings, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews or my grandparents. My family is the most important thing to me this year and I am going to make extra time for them.
So if you happen to have a rough relationship with someone in your family – start by trying to reach out to them.
Call your mom and dad.
Call your grandpa and grandma.
Call your siblings.
Call your aunt and uncle.
Call your cousins.
Tell people you love them.
The best thing we can do to end the year that seems never-ending, is to send as much love as we can out into the world. Because it will come back to us ten-fold.
Your family is the most important thing in the world this year.
Because we never know what’s going to happen.
Life is too short to hold hate in your heart.
Love your family for all its worth because there will come a time when the ones you love are gone and you won’t be able to see or talk to them.
Love them like your life depends on it and I guarantee you will never regret it.
Goodbye 2020. Thankful for the lessons you taught me, especially that family is the most important thing.
